Greetings!

First off, forgive me if I didn't tell you this email was coming! You received this because you are friend or family ... or you know me through work (Leader Motorcycle) or church ... or through a shared hobby (like flying or motorcycling or taiko) ... or through community/volunteer activities (like Cub Scouts or environmental/energy projects).

(Or, you don't know me personally, but you signed up on my "old" Web site, which was recently redesigned and launched!)

Please be assured you can unsubscribe from this list at ANY time (see lower right). But I hope you'll stay with me, because in future issues I'll share fictional "interviews" with some of the characters - and maybe even other writing I'm working on.

Of course, I hope you're intrigued enough to purchase the book (click here). And, since I still have a LOT to learn about marketing a book, I need your help (see below for details)!

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

At the risk of sounding like a well-known commercial, it's got a little bit of everything: adventurous characters, action-packed scenes, and a budding romance!

A savvy and accomplished advertising executive, Brad Sievers' life is forever altered the night he runs into Jessie Van Dyke at his high school reunion. In his new role as a search-and-rescue team member in the Colorado Rockies he comes face-to-face with the precariousness of human life and his ability to affect it.

He finds himself challenged by -- and drawn to -- Jessie. But Jessie has a dark past of her own -- a past that threatens their friendship when they rescue an Iraq war veteran.

When Brad nearly dies in a senseless accident and Jessie's beloved horse rescue ranch is threatened, he learns what it means to be a true friend -- and to have a true friend. But it's not until Jessie goes missing one night that he realizes where his heart truly lies. Will he be able to overcome his fears and save Jessie from hers?

INSPIRATION ON TWO WHEELS

I had "writers block" all summer. I was so busy with work and kids, there was no space in my head for characters!

But there's nothing like motorcycling to clear the mind (mine, at least)! For the first time, Tim (my hubby) and I took our anniversary trip a few weeks early and spent it on the motorcycles into Canada.

It seems to have shaken something loose in there ("there" being my tiny brain), and I've gotten more writing done in the past week than I did all summer!

What am I working on, you ask? No, it's not a sequel (although that's a distinct possibility someday). Hmm, I'll hold that thought for the next time!

FRENCH "BLUES" DIVA??

Who, me?? Who woulda thought ... The CD project I sang vocal backups on is getting radio play in France!

It's called "Life of Illusion" by my old friend Mark Cameron. You can search for it by album title at either CDbaby or iTunes.

For more details about my involvement in it, click here.

WARM FUZZIES
(aka Reader Reviews!)

I don't read romance or adventure stories, but I never put down a page turner. Last Chance Rescue is a good read because it's a great story.

The lead character is the woman I think I am: independent, experienced, yet romantically cautious. When she meets Brad, an old high school friend, I figured it was just a matter of time before they fell in love (and into bed). Then heartbreak. Then happily ever after.

Instead, Tracey creates two whole people. They have their own stories and face their own obstacles. Their internal struggles -- with intimacy, with regret, with fear -- are played out in a shared landscape of physical danger in the harsh elements of the Colorado Rockies.

Jessie and Brad have to learn quickly in this treacherous environment, yet in their relationship, they have to take it slow. They learn that friendship can be more treacherous than romance. The characters are on a search and rescue team and work together to save lives.

I believe anyone (but especially young adults) about to embark on life's tricky emotional terrain will learn much about love before sex and the slow road to friendship instead of the sudden avalanche of passion.
